Before We The Fans’ season finale airs tonight, stars visit Bristol for reunion

For several months, a handful of sports fans have lived what they imagine starring in a This Is SportsCenter spot might be like.

The Chicago Bears diehards were the subjects of the eight-episode ESPN original series We The Fans. This installment of the series chronicled the lives of season ticket holders in Soldier Field’s Section 250 during the 2016 season. Tonight beginning at 7 p.m. ET, ESPN airs the first of the final two episodes of the Bears fans’ adventures; at 7:30, ESPN commentator Sarah Spain moderates the special “reunion” episode taped at ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters yesterday.

“The We The Fans project has been an incredible experience,” said Jose Morales, the project’s producer. “What we learned is that fans can be as engaging and entertaining as the athletes they cheer for. While it was certainly a challenge to balance how much we chronicle of our fans at games versus ‘peeking in’ on their real lives, I think we did a great job of making this a series that went deeper than just the fan experience. I hope the viewers are able to see some part of themselves in the fans we followed and want more of this type of content.”

In the video above, several of series’ stars talk about what it’s like to have ESPN tell their stories and their thoughts about visiting the company’s headquarters.
