Broncos-Chiefs MNF game tonight reminds Edwards of Elway-Montana ’94 classic

Tonight’s Monday Night Football game – Denver Broncos versus Kansas City Chiefs (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN) – features the same AFC West rivals that played more than 20 years ago in one of MNF’s most memorable games.

In a matchup of future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, Joe Montana led the Chiefs to a thrilling 31-28 win over John Elway and the Broncos on Oct. 17, 1994. The game will be the subject of Chris Berman’s “Boomer’s Vault” segment tonight on Monday Night Countdown (6 p.m.).

ESPN analyst Herm Edwards was an assistant coach on Marty Schottenheimer’s Chiefs staff in 1994. In the video above, he talks about the game and how he knew Montana was going to win it for Kansas City.
