Reporter Claudia Trejos discusses how she formed a unique relationship with boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux, unbeaten WBA Super Bantamweight world champion. Trejos first met Rigondeaux years ago when she was covering the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. It wasn’t until 2004 at the Olympics in Athens that they established a true relationship when Trejos brought food to Rigondeaux and his teammates.
Trejos sat down with Rigondeaux to discuss his boxing career and the importance of his fight on Saturday against Vasiliy Lomachenko, WBO junior lightweight champion. Saturday’s fight marks the first time in boxing history that two-time Olympic Gold Medal winners will face each other at the professional level. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN and the fights kick off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
