“Roar, Lions, Roar”: Salters interviews Giants sensation Saquon Barkley

MNF reporter, a former Penn State star athlete herself, gets to know fellow Nittany Lion in conversation airing on Monday Night Countdown

Before tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup – the New York Giants versus the Atlanta Falcons (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN), reporter Lisa Salters will have a one-on-one conversation on the Monday Night Countdown pregame show (6 p.m.) with Giants standout rookie running back Saquon Barkley.

Conducted Sunday in Atlanta, it was the first time Salters had the opportunity to interview Barkley, a fellow Penn State alum.

Just last week, Salters, a Broadcasting Journalism major and former Nittany Lions women’s basketball player, was back in State College serving as the 2018 Homecoming Grand Marshal. While enjoying the weekend at her alma mater, she still used the opportunity to learn about her interview subject.

“I saw Saquon briefly on the field last week at Penn State. I shook his hand and told him I’d see him in Atlanta. Prior to that I’d never met him,” said Salters.

She added: “While in State College, I met [Penn State football coach] James Franklin and we spent a few minutes talking about Saquon. He said so many great things about him – how he’s a really good, humble kid who works extremely hard. I’m happy to see him have so much success.”
