DANA POINT, Calif. – Sports Business Journal celebrated the 20th anniversary of their coveted Forty Under 40 Awards Thursday with a black tie gala at the Monarch Beach Resort.

Vice President and Executive Producer of ESPN Films, Libby Geist, joined the 2019 class of honorees.

“I generally prefer to be the one celebrating my colleagues and not being in the spotlight, but must admit last night was really, really fun,” Geist said. “Getting dolled up and meeting the other recipients was exciting, but the best part was celebrating with a wonderful, supportive group of friends from ESPN.”

ESPN commentator Cari Champion and Amin Elhassan served as hosts for the event, and executives Connor Schell, Ryan Spoon and Brian Lockhart were on hand to congratulate Libby. Spoon is a former honoree in the 2018 class and Schell is in the SBJ Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame, along with fellow ESPN executive Justin Connolly.

Said Champion: “I had a wonderful time hosting the event. [It’s] such a wonderful way to see how our world of sports is celebrated.”
