ESPN.com senior writer's feature on a former basketball star-turned-nun wins 2020 Dan Jenkins Medal for Excellence in Sportswriting

ESPN’s Liz Merrill has been named a 2020 Dan Jenkins Medal for Excellence in Sportswriting award recipient by the Moody College of Communication Center for Sports Communication & Media at the University of Texas.

She was nominated for her August 2019 ESPN.com piece “Whatever Happened to Villanova Basketball Star Shelly Pennefather? ‘So I Made This Deal with God.’” The story also was made into an ESPN “SC Featured” segment for SportsCenter.
