Hugo Balta

I joined ESPN in 2011 as a Coordinating Producer responsible for the production of SportsCenter and other live programs. I’m a U.S. Hispanic Sports Fan priority champion working on strategies to better serve this booming population. To that end I consult on various projects across multiple platforms like the upcoming Hispanic Heritage month special: One Nacion. I’m also the President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ). As a volunteer I lead the board of directors in the strategic planning of programs focused on championing Latino journalists and advocate for the fair coverage and representation of that community. I grew up playing soccer, but dreamed of playing catcher for the Yankees. Now I chase birdies around the golf course. And the way I play they’re usually the feathered kind! I’m a first generation Peruvian-American from New Jersey who now lives in West Hartford with my wife and two children.
