On May 21 in Montreal, Bernard Hopkins made history by becoming boxing’s oldest champion ever by defeating Jean Pascal for the WBC light-heavyweight title.
Shortly afterward, the 46-year-old visited ESPN’s Bristol headquarters. He appeared on many of our programs including Friday Night Fights.
Willing to go toe-toe with all challengers, I caught up with the man affectionately known as “The Executioner.”
I found out what it’s like to deliver a knockout blow and what keeps him going long after others have hung up their gloves.
Hopkins, who was honored by Philadelphia’s mayor on June 1 in front of the Rocky statue, also mentions future fights against the likes of Chad Dawson — his next opponent — or super middleweight contender Lucian Bute.
