Production and talent from ESPN’s Bristol, Conn. headquarters and the company’s production facilities in Orlando worked together to produce live studio shows wrapping ESPN’s live and exclusive coverage of the Colombo, Sri Lanka-based world tournament — considered the pinnacle of the sport’s 20-over format.

The studio shows and live matches are broadcast to Latin America, the U.S. and in the Caribbean — in the latter region, cricket is the most popular sport.

“Cricket is an integral part of ESPN Caribbean’s programming lineup,” said Bernard Stewart, vice president, ESPN Caribbean and Maritime Media.

“Through our multi-platform coverage, fans will be able to access the matches and key tournament information anytime, anywhere.”

With limited extra facilities in Bristol, it was decided to utilize Orlando’s production resources for the studio shows which have been telecast live for every match of the 17-day tournament.

As well as an on-camera team which included West Indies fast-bowling legend Courtney Walsh, former West Indies batsman Ricardo Powell and renowned cricket broadcaster Mike Haysman, seven members of the international production team from Bristol joined the Orlando team to produce the studio shows which ran from as early as 5:30 a.m. ET until after the last match of the day.

The West Indies have qualified for the semifinal against Australia. Live coverage is available on ESPN Caribbean, ESPNPlay.com, ESPN3 as well as on ESPNCricinfo.com in the US and Caribbean from 8am ET on Friday. For more information, click here.
