UPDATED: Information regarding ESPN’s position on ad

NOTE: Post updated at 3:33 p.m. ET on December 12, 2013

We have again reviewed the ads submitted for the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and have concluded that we will accept the original requested commercial.

It will run in Saturday’s VCU at Northern Iowa basketball game on ESPNU. This decision is consistent with our practice of individual review of all ads under our commercial advocacy standards.

Thank you, ESPN, for doing the right thing. Merry Christmas!

Thank you ESPN. When I heard the original story I was not only disappointed in your decision I found it disturbing. I’ve seen some things you allow on-air and it boggles the mind that THIS you would say no to.

While recognizing ESPN has every right to choose to air or not air a commercial, I had called to cancel my subscription over this issue. But I was advised of ESPN’s choice to accept the original ad. So I decided if ESPN can change their mind, then so can I.

    I’m still a happy subscriber.

Thank you for running the ad. I did not want to miss all of the
football games–but I would have. Thanks for being a stand up group.
