Identifying Kelly’s new heroes proves perplexing for Philadelphia fans

What do Philadelphia fans feel after seeing many of their established Eagles became free birds, replaced by unfamiliar, new feathered friends?

SportsCenter fan correspondent Reese Waters on Tuesday wandered the streets of the City of Brotherly Love to see what they thought of their roster’s renovations under Coach Chip Kelly (video also below).

“In general, the fans were a lot of fun and very willing to be blindly led by Chip Kelly,” Waters said, chuckling. “Although just about all of them are ready to fire him if it doesn’t work!”

“Reese and I went to iconic places in Philadelphia to ask residents to play ‘Name that Eagle,’” associate producer Allison Dodek said of venturing to Geno’s Steaks and the Rocky statue before reaching South Street and a stop at O’Neal’s Pub. “Most people had no idea who was on their team, but we had multiple people who did not know who Tim Tebow was. The funniest interview was with a gentleman who ate ice cream the whole interview, who thought we were playing a joke and showing him all non-Eagles players.”

On the day of the shoot, Waters was as hot as some Iggles fans were about recent transactions, but for a different reason.

“It was one thousand degrees in Philadelphia that day,” he said, “my winning and comfortable smile is brought to you by two years of acting training.”
