“The Return”: Logic provides soundtrack as college basketball tips off on ESPN tonight

Artist, Terps fan respects "the grind of the players;" his song from album YSIV featured as Sonic Blockbuster anthem track

Once again, ESPN has partnered with a musical artist to elevate its Sonic Blockbuster matchups featuring the top players, programs and matchups throughout the season.

This year’s campaign will be complemented by the sounds of Grammy-nominated artist Logic, with “The Return” – off his fourth studio album YSIV – deemed the Sonic Blockbuster anthem track across ESPN platforms.

Front Row caught up with Logic to talk college hoops and being featured on ESPN.

What does it mean to you for your song to be associated with college basketball and ESPN’s Sonic Blockbuster campaign?
It’s awesome! I respect the grind of the players. Always admire hard work.

Who are you rooting for this season?
Maryland! Easy! I spent so much time on that campus and recorded music in the dorm rooms.

What is your favorite ESPN show?
I don’t have a specific show, but always love watching with the homies – on the tour bus and on the road.

What is the game you look forward to every year during the CBB season?
For me it’s not a specific game, but more so following the storylines and players. My security guards are basketball-obsessed so they’re always keeping me up to date on the next big NBA picks. Whatever you do – as long as you are passionate and persistent, I respect it. It’s something I tell my fans always.
