This weekend’s College GameDay show will be one for the books – and maybe a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
With the sports calendar shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Masters Tournament – typically held in April at Augusta National Golf Club – is being played this week. A November Masters and a college football Saturday? It’s a match made in sports heaven.
“The Club has been nothing but great from the moment we approached them,” Senior Vice President, Production, and former GameDay producer Lee Fitting told Richard Deitsch of The Athletic. “They have been overly accommodating, overly enthusiastic, and willing to sort of push the envelope with this idea. [Augusta National] Chairman [Fred] Ridley is a big college football fan, a big [Florida] Gators fan, and is totally supportive and behind the idea. All our ideas have been entertained, and we’ve talked through them collectively. It’s just been an unbelievable partnership.”
