Chris Golic, wife of ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike co-host Mike Golic, took her former NFL lineman husband to a football practice Wednesday night.

Last spring, Chris was named to the Advisory Committee of USA Football Heads Up Football, a comprehensive youth football membership program developed by USA Football and supported by the NFL to further strengthen youth player safety. Wednesday night, the Golics stopped by a New Britain (Conn.) Hurricanes Youth Football practice, where Mike gave some tips. The organization has adopted the guidelines of Heads Up Football, whose mission is to make the game better and safer for all who play it.

“We enjoyed our night out in New Britain meeting with the youth football group there,” Chris said. “It is wonderful seeing an organization that has implemented the Heads Up Football program and is having success with it. After all, the Heads Up program depends on the coaches, volunteers and parents who integrate the techniques and tools daily into their programs. I’m enjoying being involved in helping with a sport that has given our family so much.”

After practice, Mike said, “The New Britian Hurricanes could be the model group for little league football around the country with their implementation and on-field application of the Heads Up Football program sponsored by the NFL.”
