This year marks the 20th anniversary of ESPN’s exclusive coverage of the Heisman Trophy presentation. It all began on Dec. 10, 1994, with University of Colorado running back Rashaan Salaam taking home the award.
A year later, on ESPN’s first anniversary of covering the presentation, Ohio State running back Eddie George (above) was the recipient.
This year also marks the 80th Heisman Trophy awarded. ESPN airs exclusive live coverage Saturday (8 p.m. ET). The finalists for this year’s award are Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.
